Painting: Dubosarsky and Vinogradov

Happy Childhood - 2000

Vladmir Dubosarsky and Alexander Vinogradov are contemporary artists that  have been painting together as a team since 1994 (how is that done?). The live and work in Moscow. It seems their fame is primarily centered in Europe and as far as I can tell don’t have a large American following – though they certainly should. Their paintings for the most part are large murals, some spanning as much as 30 feet. Their style has ranged from simple realism to celebrity featured “Pop Art” to their more recent subdued nudes. All of it though has a great sense of humor and a wonderful use of color and light.

Their work first came to the attention of US indie music scene with their design of the Talking Heads 3 CD greatest hits box set – Once in a Life Time (Happy Childhood being the cover).
