Design: The Vespa
Vespa – Italian for wasp – is a brand of scooter built in Italy at the end of WW2. The design of the scooter itself was pretty great but the advertising surrounding it made it a style icon. It started it’s life as an all-pupose big city vehicle until the 1952 film Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck made it hip and exotic – sales in America and Europe soared. Vespa is still making scooters 56 years later.
