Photography: Garry Winogrand

Garry Winogrand (14 January 1928 – 19 March 1984)

Garry Winogrand was a New York based photographer and a contemporary of Dianne Arbus, Danny Lyon, Duane Michals and Lee Friedlander. Relitively raw unposed black and white work, he focused on the everyday life in New York in the 60’s as well as rich and famous – making them look less then perfect. The included photo of Marilyn in The Seven Year Itch (1955) is possibly his most recognizable yet completly untypical to the larger body of work.
