Design: Ghana Movie Posters Part 2

The Matrix

I’ve posted some of these before – they’re beautiful examples of a combination of mixed up folk art and media promotion gone haywire. Here’s the story – in Ghana there are no copyright laws so they take bootleg copies of whatever they consider popular movies on tour and show them in outdoor theaters or any place w/ a big enough wall. These are the handpainted canvas’s that travel along with the films. The perspective is usually wrong, the actors are unrecognizable and the painting more then naive – you could go on and on about the flaws but why bother – they are absolutely perfect as they are.

Jason Vs. Freddy

Deep Rising

Cat Woman

Leprechaun

The Mummy

Sleepy Hallow
