Halloween: Ben Cooper Costumes

Leather Man - Morgan Freeman from The Electric Company

Ben Cooper, Inc was a American company that made ultra-cheap Halloween costumes from the 1930’s to the 1980’s. If you grew up in the 70’s you probably wore one of these while your parents sipped high-balls and you went out trick-or-treating by yourself. The costume consisted of a simple 2-D vinyl mask and a polyester, or later, vinyl smock. The cool thing was that they made all the important super heroes and stars of the day but also obscure people and things. What little kid wouldn’t want to go as Rubiks Cube, Granny from the Beverely Hillbillies or Flipper?
