The Art of Packaging: Vintage Girly Mags

In the 50’s and 60’s everyone was trying to cash in on the mainstream success of Hugh Hefner’s PLAYBOY, so you got all kinds of titles trying to hit the big time. Some were still relatively underground and seriousely smutty, some were, what we’d think to day, as comical, innocent and PG rated. These are some of the better named magazines – Intrique, Frenchy, Rascal, Clyde, French Spice – the hilarious Lonesome Gals and, as it’s close to halloween, –  let’s start w/ Satan.

Satan - 1957

Intrigue - 1959

Lonesome Gals - 1962

Frenchy - 1959

Rascal - 1964

Clyde - 1967

French Spice - 1963

Raw - 1964

Black Garters - 1959

Spree - 1962
