Design: 2012 – A Few Really Awful Movie Posters
I’m sure their are far worse posters from 2012 but these stuck out like sore thumbs. These are all major releases, though I’m sure most have gone or will go straight to video. A couple are ‘teaser’ poster for films coming out in 2013 – we’ll see what the final art work looks like soon enough.
This one has to be the worst posters of 2012 in my book. Awful 1980’s style off-kilter design with the absolute worst imagery and tag-line possible “The Jizz is Up”. I wouldn’t see this movie on a dare simply because of this truly creepy (not in a good way) poster.
It’s the same design as The Babymakers without the Jizz. And isn’t Vince Vaughn a bit more famous than that dude from ‘Fringe’?
From the “How many stars can you fit on one poster” style we have ‘Freeloaders’ from the same folks who brought us, once again, ‘The Babymakers’.
Oh I see, it’s about couples and crazy relationships. Might as well put everyones name on the poster, and while your at it, make it off-center and ‘quirky’.
This is the ‘Big-Head’ teaser from 2012 (movie comes out in 2013). The huge transparent type look is a bit tired and over used. And the tag-line? this might be a better poster if they would have replaced ‘Russia’ with ‘Fucker’, but then I guess we’d never see this poster at all.
Another teaser for 2013 and another Big Fat Head. Poor, poor Eugene Levy.
The biggest, fattest head of them all – Sean Penn. Not specifically a bad design, Sean’s character, (based on The Cure’s Robert Smith) is just plain silly. He looks so forlorn and ridiculous it’s hard to take seriousely.
It seems that posters fall into certain categories, Big Heads, The Whole Cast, etc. Here is part 1 of the badly photoshopped stars running straight at the camera.
Part 2. This time w/ Nick Cage and his ever changing hair-line.
Photoshop is not that difficult!
Photoshop is not that difficult – really.
Featuring the music of Def Leopard, Foreigner, Journey, Poison, REO Speedwagon & Twisted Sister. All that and Tom Cruise as Stacie Jaxx.
There are 15 people in this poster (not counting those In Utero).
This is the German poster but every poster looks almost exactly like this – a slightly mad and always smug Bradley Cooper and blue eyed smirking Jennifer Lawrence. What’s the cut on his nose mean? Is this just another lousy romantic comedy? Apparently this is a much better film than the poster would suggest. I include it because it fails in every way in giving a clue whats going on.
